This a the very traditional Likkel version of strawberry shortcake. I realize now that this photo doesn't actually all display the components - just the finished product - but no worries, I'll explain the details.
Our traditional recipe includes those little dessert shortcakes you buy at the store - usually near the strawberries in the produce aisle - sliced berries (the big guy like a little sugar mixed with them, but that's not technically in the traditional Likkel recipe) and whipped cream whipped softly with a little powdered sugar and a drop of vanilla. Layer and serve.

We never thought there would still be strawberries in July when we got back from our trip, but they're still being sold! A bit small...but still Whatcom County delicious!
