Random Day

We found a very nice resort in Redding that we are enjoying a lot.
Hard to believe, but last week when Taryn got rained out on her wilderness journey this resort also experienced flooding with a couple of inches in their office from a near by creek.

But now it is just clean, and green, and perfect for us...so by the end of this day we settled right in.

There is a wonderful old refrigerator in the office/store that still works. I love it!

We totally slept in this morning. First thing on our agenda had to be laundry. The big guy was kind enough to agree we need the convenience of multiple washers and driers which meant locating an actual laundromat. Taryn has so many damp clothes they are going to mold quickly if not taken care of.

We got them all washing and then left for breakfast...at In-N-Out Burger. I knew this would likely be our only opportunity to go there together...and it was already 1 pm, so what the world, let's do it. Fabulously random, and fabulously delicious!!

After drying & folding all the laundry we headed back to Lake Shasta. This would also be our only moment to experience the actual lake. Again, this is so not easy in the bbow. It was not much fun finding a place. We got ourselves in some rather interesting dilemmas which nearly did me in. The water in Shasta is very high as you can see from this pic.

This little cove was one place we could find parking (at a boat launch) and walk to the water and chill...hahaha in 100 plus degrees.

The cove was quite narrow so Gary and Taryn actually swam in it. I'm not very fond of lake swimming...except in the middle of the lake where my feet are treading water not touching who-knows-what. There was slimy stuff at the waters edge so I didn't even feel compelled to get in it at all, but they had a wonderful swim.

After chilling there a few hours we did a bit more exploring around the area. Gary found this launch and got some pics of houseboats. We were kinda done after that - still quite tired, so we headed back to the resort. We saved some steaks for a special dinner with the girl so we made a celebration meal together.
